The 8mm projector bulb

It may not be as popular as the projector body itself but there is no doubt that the 8mm projector is a must-have. First, let us take the time to understand how projectors work.

The first thing that you should know is that 8mm projectors are breakthroughs during their time. It is because these projectors offer a new way of conserving film. It is definitely true that movies are produced when frames of pictures are loaded and spun as quickly as they can be. However, the light source of the projector plays a crucial role in the task. Without it, the frames of pictures cannot be enlarged and viewed. There can’t be any movies for that matter.

The good thing about 8mm projectors is that the films they use have perforated lines on its edges. The holes in the edges are what the projectors use to navigate the film on both sides. What’s the fuss with both sides? Before 8mm Projectors were born, only the 16mm ones are used. These films can only load image frames on one side. As such, you need a long roll of film to run a movie.

With the rise of the 8mm projector, such a requirement was turned into half. The 8mm Projector bulb and the film itself is put on reverse so that the other side of the film can show another set of images. It is important that the 8mm bulb stays in its tip-top shape. Otherwise, the images on both sides of the film can’t be seen.

You might very well notice by now that each part of the projector is very crucial. It’s probably the beauty of basic and simple gadgets—every part is essential.

  2. Blow dust surrounding the bulb. You can also use a fine brush to remove it. Use a lint-free cloth to wipe the metal casing of the bulb. Re-screw the casing after cleaning.
  3. Carefully hold the film gate of the projector and remove it. Again, blow dust away in the area and use brush as you like.
  4. Dip a small cotton swab with rubbing alcohol. Use it to wipe off dirt around the edge of the film gate. Once dry, move the film gate back to where you removed it.
  5. Use the lint-free cloth to rub off dust among the two hubs of the projector. These are the areas that hold the film. Again, wipe everything that has dust. Check to see if you have replaced everything that you have removed. Screw the case, plug in the projector and let the film start rolling.
